Sunset Town, Washboard Stars


a lilac jelly finger

poised upon the trigger

with the arrival of sundown,

the cowboy better start his prayers now

shifting eyes scanning from side to side,

his face is flushed florid with life

the cowboy is prowling tonight,

stalking the streets looking for a fight

when the moon appears,

starch-white

against the azure sky,

he surrenders his fears,

and lays down his life
